Yoga Studios in Canggu

Bali is one of the best places in the world to learn and practice yoga. Whether you are new to the mat or trying to perfect your yoga practice, you will find a lot of yoga studios in Canggu with some of the best teachers and classes in the world!

As a yoga teacher who completed her yoga teachers training in Bali and someone who has lived here for several years, I have had the privilege of exploring numerous yoga studios in Canggu.

Based on my extensive experience as a regular yoga practitioner, I have compiled a comprehensive guide featuring the best Canggu yoga studios. These carefully selected recommendations are sure to enhance your yoga journey while you’re on this beautiful island.

Guan Yin Yoga Shala

Shala in Batu Baloong

Located in the heart of Canggu, Guan Yin Yoga Shala, named after the Goddess of Compassion, is a sanctuary for yogis seeking spiritual growth and physical well-being. The studio is tucked inside the beautiful Tugu hotel, a reconstructed 300-year-old temple that boasts intricate wooden work, Balinese carvings, and a serene natural setting.

Even though it’s right in the middle of Batu Balong, a bustling street, and just a few steps from the beach, once you step into the studio, you’re instantly transported into a zone of peace and quiet. Surrounded by a lush garden, you can even hear the birds singing—it’s like your own little retreat away from the chaos outside.

The studio perfectly reflects the island’s beauty with its traditional Balinese setting. And it is very spacious, with open areas that offer views of the surrounding gardens. It’s equipped with plenty of fans, ensuring a constant flow of fresh air, which is an enormous help with Bali’s tropical weather.

They offer a diverse range of classes including gentle Yin, Hatha, and dynamic Vinyasa flow. Each session is carefully crafted to enhance flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. Most classes are for all levels.

While here, I highly recommend indulging in one of the best restaurants in Bali. Located on the premises of the hotel, Ji Restaurant is just a few steps from the shala and offers a Japanese menu that should not be missed!

Pros: Very good central location with a calm setting.

Cons: They do not offer KITAS holder (residents) discounts.

Maja Studio

yoga and pilates studio in Bali

Maja Studio Bali has a really cool, modern vibe, perfect for trying out yoga in a stunning setting. They don’t offer a huge variety of yoga styles—mostly vinyasa and yin classes—but they do focus on pilates and occasionally offer breath work sessions. The studio is absolutely Instagram-worthy, with its minimalist decor and neutral colors making it look like a dream. Plus, their mats and props are top-notch and very well maintained.

It’s not really aimed at seasoned yogis, but if you’re new to yoga or just want to practice in a gorgeous space, Maja Studio is for you! They also have a little cafe where you can indulge in a yummy matcha after your class. And don’t miss the beautiful spa next door—it’s definitely worth a visit!

Pros: Very aesthetically pleasing. Pilates options.

Cons: A bit more pricey than other studios. They do not offer practices for intermediate or advance students.

Top yoga studios in Canggu

If you’re a yoga enthusiast, Samadi is a fantastic spot with amazing teachers who offer yoga classes, regular workshops, and holistic wellness treatments all under one roof. It’s one of the best places to practice yoga in Bali, especially if you’re into advanced vinyasas or traditional styles like Ashtanga.

But don’t think that means they’re only good at those styles. With their extensive schedule and two studios offering classes all day, every day of the week, you’ll find something for every style and level.
